Imerys presents sustainable innovations for nonwovens at WOW 2011
Atlanta, June 10th 2011. Imerys will exhibit at the specialized industry conference for nonwoven wipes, World of Wipes (WOW 2011), to take place in Atlanta, Georgia from June 14-16. Conference attendees will learn the latest on raw materials, worldwide markets, the environment and government regulations as well as network with fellow attendees.
Imerys will feature FiberLink™ additive for nonwovens, an engineered calcium carbonate which allows customers to replace a percentage of the polymer resins in the manufacture of fibers and nonwovens. FiberLink additive makes wipes better by increasing softness and absorption, while improving opacity and reducing the carbon footprint. FiberLink has shown beneficial properties as an additive in polypropylene (PP) and polyester (PET) and can be processed using nonwoven technologies of spunlace, spunbond and meltbown.
WOW is organized by INDA, Association of the Nonwoven Fabrics Industry, and the agenda is put together by a volunteer group of industry professionals. Imerys' Octavius Davies served on the WOW 2011 Conference Committee and will be the moderator for the "Environmental Friendliness" session, featuring presentations on sustainability, waste reduction, "natural" products, and biodegradable wipes.
