IMERYS Performance Minerals North America Donates Lime and Time to Arlington National Cemetery
Atlanta, GA, August 9, 2010 – Imerys Performance Minerals North America, a member of the Professional Landcare Network (PLANET), participated in the Renewal & Remembrance beautification project at Arlington National and Historic Congressional cemeteries on Monday, July 19, 2010.
Imerys, along with several other companies from across the nation, donated products and their staff’s time to spend the day mulching, cabling and installing lightning protection for trees, pruning, applying lime to over 200 acres, planting, and aerating the soil at Arlington National and Historic Congressional cemeteries.
Imerys brought along one of its own veterans again this year, Carl Cuthbertson. Carl joined the United States Air Force in December of 1968 and completed his service as a captain in January of 1972. Carl states, “Although it was hard work for all involved to manually spread 120 tons of Lime-Rite® on the Arlington grounds today, that effort was absolutely nothing compared to what these fallen heroes all around us gave. This should be especially apparent to us Americans and our French-based company. The freedoms that Imerys employees enjoy today are the direct result of the joint sacrifices the people of our two countries made in both 20th century world wars, which is a fact we should never forget.”
Imerys has participated in Renewal and Remembrance since its inception 14 years ago and donates all of the lime that is used for the grounds.
