Imerys Minerals Ltd achieves latest Quality Management Standard
Imerys Minerals Ltd have recently received a new Certificate of Registration to the revised ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management Standard. This Standard replaces the version previously issued during the year 2000.
The ISO (International Organisation for Standardisation) rules for the development of Standards require their periodic review to decide if they need revising, maintaining or withdrawal. Compared to the 2000 revision of ISO 9001, ISO 9001:2008 represents ‘fine tuning’ rather than a thorough overhaul. It introduces clarifications based on user experience over the last eight years, and changes that are intended to improve compatibility with the ISO 14001:2004 Standard for environmental management systems.
ISO 9001 certification is frequently used in both private and public sectors to increase confidence in the products and services provided by certified organisations, between partners in business-to-business relations, in the selection of suppliers in supply chains and in the right to tender for procurement contracts.
Although certification is not a requirement of the Standard, the Quality Management Systems of about 1 million organisations, across 170 countries have been assessed and certified by independent certification bodies.
Following the assessment in August 2009, our certification body, the British Standards Institute (BSi) reported;
“ During this audit you successfully upgraded to ISO 9001:2008 for certificate FM14752. We are pleased to recommend the continuation of your registration”.
“The Quality Systems Manager has now completed all amendment of the Quality Management System to address the requirements of ISO 9001:2008”
“There is a good quality culture established and evidence of continuing improvement throughout the review period”.
