IMERYS European Performance Minerals to Increase Calcium Carbonate, Hydrous Kaolin and Calcined Kaolin Prices

Brussels, November 4th 2008. IMERYS European Performance Minerals will increase Calcium Carbonate, Hydrous Kaolin and Calcined Kaolin prices effective 1st December 2008, as contracts allow.

Calcium Carbonate, Hydrous Kaolin and Calcined Kaolin manufactured by European Performance Minerals for the Coatings, Rubber, Building Material, Sealant, Chemical, Film and Plastic sectors will increase as follows:

Calcium Carbonate – 8.0% to 10.0% depending on manufactured Grade

Hydrous Kaolin – 10.0%

Calcined Kaolin – 15.0%

Significant cost pressure in logistics, chemicals, packaging and mining are key drivers for the announced price increases. Despite Imerys’ continual investments to mitigate these effects, price increases are necessary to achieve a sustainable Performance Minerals platform and meet customer demand.
