34 Imerys sites to participate in European Minerals Day 2011
During the weekend of 13-15 May 2011, in line with European Minerals Day, various activities – tours of quarries and extraction sites, presentations of remediation and environmental protection projects – will take place at across Europe to raise public awareness about the importance of the minerals industry.
Biodiversity will be one of the key themes of the Minerals Day. Visitors will be able to discover the unique biodiversity found in rehabilitated quarries and extraction sites, which provide habitats for rare plant and animal species.
34 Imerys sites will take part in the initiative in Germany, Belgium, Spain, France, Italy, the United Kingdom, Sweden and Turkey and outside Europe in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, China, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, and the United States. All Imerys business Groups are represented.

The European Minerals Day is coordinated at European level by IMA-Europe, the Industrial Minerals European Association, by UEPG, the European Aggregate Association, and by Cembureau, the European Cement Association
