Our portfolio for adhesives, sealants and caulks includes ultrafine calcium carbonate (marble, chalk whiting), kaolin (china clay, hydrous kaolin), calcined kaolin (calcined clay), ball clay (secondary clay) and mica.

In adhesives & sealants kaolins give good barrier effects and rheology control. Controlling rheology can influence the speed at which adhesive can be applied which is important in high speed paper laminating processes.

The low surface hydroxyl content of calcined kaolins leads to a low moisture pick-up, resulting in excellent performance in moisture sensitive (MS) sealant applications. Calcined kaolins are also effective as structure building components.

Finely ground calcium carbonates (GCC) are used in a wide range of sealant & adhesive applications to improve rheological properties and reduce the water or volatile content of the compound. Some fine products are hydrophobised with stearate coating to reduce moisture pick-up, ease handling and improve dispersion.
