Calcium Carbonate in Paint Applications
Calcium carbonates reduce the opacity or hiding power of paints but are useful for their bulking properties.
Depending on their particle size calcium carbonates can be used to decrease and control gloss levels, a useful feature in matt paints. Details are illustrated in the document below, Imerys Calcium Carbonates.
The Imerys range of calcium carbonates is produced in France, Belgium, UK, Italy, Tunisia, Turkey and Egypt. We have a full range of particle sizes and in some locations produce calcium carbonates slurries which offer the paint maker processing efficiencies and the opportunity to lower the paint formulation cost. For more information contact the paint technical manager.
