IMERYS Performance Minerals North America volunteers at Arlington National Cemetery
Atlanta, GA, August 4, 2011 – Imerys Performance Minerals North America, a member of the Professional Landcare Network (PLANET), participated in the Renewal & Remembrance beautification project at Arlington National and Historic Congressional cemeteries on Monday, July 25, 2011.
Imerys, along with several other companies from across the nation, donated products and their staff’s time to spend the day mulching, cabling and installing lightning protection for trees, pruning, applying lime to over 200 acres, planting, and aerating the soil at Arlington National and Historic Congressional cemeteries.
Imerys provided five volunteers this year, which included representatives from our sales and marketing group in North America. Here are some comments from our volunteers:
Florence Matthews, Imerys Senior Account Manager, said, “It was an honor to help out with such a meaningful project. When you stand and look at all the graves of those that fought for our freedom, it’s overwhelming.”
Michelle Mercurio, Imerys National Distribution Manager, stated, “It is hard to express the great significance and the humbling experience that we as a group can give back something as a token to the greatness of our Arlington National Cemetery. This final resting place for those fellow citizens who made the ultimate sacrifice for the Freedom, Liberty, and Blessings that we have in this magnificent country should forever be coveted as a National Treasure.”
Imerys has participated in Renewal and Remembrance since its inception 15 years ago and donates all of the lime that is used for the grounds.
