IMERYS Performance Minerals North America Announces the opening of its newest mine in Kings Moutain, NC
Kings Moutain, NC - May 20, 2011 - Imerys Performance Minerals North America announced the opening of its newest mine in Kings Mountain, NC. Kings Mountain Minerals, a member of Imerys, unveiled their latest project, the new H-1 mining facility that will provide Mica mine reserves for a decade. Local Chamber, County and City representatives, including the mayor of Kings Mountain, gathered to celebrate the event with a ribbon cutting. Kings Mountain Minerals offered site tours and displays to show attendees the operation firsthand.
Imerys acquired the mica division from Zemex Minerals Group in late 2008, which included Kings Mountain Minerals located in Kings Mountain, NC and Suzorite Mining, Inc. located in Boucherville, Quebec, Canada. During the past two years Imerys has
made significant investments into these assets to support the growth of mica for use in
high performance plastics and coatings. Imerys has further investments planned to
solidify its leadership position with mica in the global market.
