Imerys calcium carbonates can increase line speeds, improve mechanical properties, increase opacity, and reduce raw material costs. They also can assist fiber and fabric manufacturers' sustainability efforts by reducing the carbon footprint of their finished product. Calcium carbonate has lower greenhouse gas emissions than the resin it replaces.*
Work is underway in spunbond, meltblown, and spunlace nonwovens, as well as staple fibers and monofilament yarns. Suitable end-use applications include a wide range of products, such as: hygiene substrates, wipes, sorbents, geotextiles, and industrial fabrics.
A key component of our fibers and nonwovens business is our commitment to technical collaboration with fiber, fabric, and end-product processors. Through this collaboration we acquire an in-depth understanding of the application which allows us to develop mineral-based solutions to bring the required functionality and performance to the end product.
